Drēm Digital Marketing Consultant - Ali Freiburger

After working in a large corporate setting for 10+ years and founding a company of my own, Drēm Digital, I understand the complexity of doing business. With a never-ending list of to-dos to keep the machine running smoothly, it is easy for areas to go untouched for weeks, even with the best intentions. Not only do you need to worry about what is on your list, but the nagging feeling in your gut telling you there may be something missing from your list. Digital marketing, including paid advertising, often misses the list. It is not your fault! We don’t know what we don’t know.

The more I learn, the more I realize I don’t know! However, I do know digital marketing. Drēm Digital's goal is to help business owners and their leaders finally tackle the digital marketing must-haves for growth. If you are considering where to begin, start with these three opportunities to ensure you start with a solid foundation.

Tip #1 - Measure Everything

"Measure twice, cut once" is a simple phrase that has the power to form a connection between woodworking, trauma bangs, and digital marketing. These are very different topics. However, a miscalculation in all scenarios could mean overspending your hard-earned dollars. Unfortunately for many, a poorly executed digital marketing program costs significantly more than a spare 2x4 or a few new hats.

If you have an existing digital footprint, at the very least, you should be tracking traffic and consumer behavior. Start by measuring everything requiring a click, follow, purchase, or submission. There are many tools to measure performance on your website, social pages, and paid advertising accounts. Your first task is to make sure you are collecting information and measuring the tactics currently driving conversions. Check with your web developer or marketing team to ensure you have the Google Analytics, Google Search Console, and Google Tag Manager tags added to your web pages. Once you have the proper tags in place, you can begin to measure and understand the baseline performance of your existing program before investing in paid advertising.

If you're still with me but starting to glaze over, prioritize Google Analytics using this Guide to Adding Google Analytics to Your Website. Then, pat yourself on the back and breathe before tackling the others.

Tip #2 - Learn the Significance of SEO

Digital marketers love three-letter acronyms. The more complex the subject, the more likely we avoid calling it by its full name. Why not confuse the concept even more by turning it into your long-lost aunt JuJu, whose real name will forever be a mystery? SEO, Search Engine Optimization, encompasses the necessary content, actions, and development needed to tell search engines who you are and what you are selling.

By learning the basics of SEO, you will equip yourself to lay a proper digital foundation. Allow SEO to work for you so you do not have to overpay to reach the top of search engine result pages (SERPs). Whether you are a small business owner or a marketing director at a large firm, there are almost certainly low-hanging fruit opportunities in SEO on your company's website. If you are uncertain where to start, use Drēm Digital's Low-Hanging Fruit: SEO Basics digital download for a consolidated guide on how to get started. P.S. The guide is complete with an action list for all of the list check fanatics out there.

Tip #3 - Understand Where your Customers Are Coming From

You know the customer is always right, but are you aware of how they became your customers? Word of mouth? A stroke of luck? A viral social video? Or a robust marketing program efficiently reaching your target audience? Learn where your customers are coming from to make the most of the source and learn areas of opportunity for future growth.

If you discover your customers are a product of a single marketing campaign you implemented when you opened your doors, it is time to consider new customer acquisition tactics. Digital prospecting campaigns on Meta or Google might be the answer to your waning customer list. Contact Drēm Digital to schedule a strategy call to make the most of your marketing dollars.
